MCS Approved Installers
Renewable or Low and Zero Carbon Technologies have the potential
to generate huge revenue and create a wealth of jobs and specialist
spin-off businesses for the construction industry in the UK.
Any new industry needs regulation to ensure consumers receive
value for money, are not missold products or have sub-standard or
dangerous installations. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme
(MCS) is the quality assurance scheme set up to regulate renewable
technologies in the UK.
The MCS installer can be recognised by the MCS approved
installer mark. Each installer has a unique registration number
which can be verified on the MCS website where all registered
products can also be checked. Every installation is logged and a
central database is maintained of all certified installations.
The MCS is similar to the Gas Safe (formerly Corgi) scheme in
the plumbing industry, and quite simply it governs those who
install heat and electricity generating technologies on a small
scale. It ensures that only the best technologies are installed by
properly qualified companies.
Jewson only sells MCS registered renewable products and advises
that installers either become MCS registered or subcontract work to
MCS registered installers.
