Sarah Bickerstaff, Branch Manager – Graduate

Rsz _sarah (2)

I started in the industry in 2007 after university on a two-year  graduate scheme where I worked the yard, the sales counter, the  sales office and then undertook the role of Assistant Branch  Manager. I've participated in a number of training courses, from    sales to Health & Safety and I also undertook a diploma in  management. This was hugely beneficial as I was able to undertake  every role in branch and I learnt how all the parts of the business  came together.

Upon completing the two-year programme I was promoted to  Branch Manager and I've managed two branches over the last five  years. The training and the support from my manager and Area  Directors has helped me progress quickly. With the right attitude  and commitment it's easy to develop within a large company such  as Jewson. The challenges I face each day are different and I love  the interaction with the customers and the challenge of becoming  the best merchant in town, which is about developing the best team  and training and developing employees.

I believe that our people are our most important asset and having  the right people, in the right role are fundamental to having a  successful  branch.
