NIA: Brits should insulate now February 3, 2012
Brits should lag their homes "without delay", the National Insulation Association (NIA) has declared.
This is an easy way to improve the energy efficiency of a house and makes the building less damp and cold, the organisation pointed out.
Many people in fuel poverty could be entitled to have their dwelling insulated for free, with grants and subsidies available for other households, it continued.
Cavity wall and loft insulation can reduce a domicile's fuel bills by £310 annually, with this figure rising to £635 when solid walls are upgraded, the NIA remarked.
Chief executive of the group Neil Marshall declared: "Home insulation is the single most effective method to stop the heat escaping and save money on domestic energy bills."
These comments were made in preparation for the 'big freeze', with the Met Office warning snow, rain and sleet is likely to fall on Saturday due to an Atlantic weather front.
Most of England has a 100 per cent likelihood of enduring severe conditions in the immediate future, the expert forecasters predicted.
