New UK-GBC chairman appointed February 8, 2010
The UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) has announced the appointment its new chairman today (February 8th).
According to the body, Daniel Labbad is to succeed Peter Rogers in the role.
Mr Labbad is currently the European chief executive officer of Lend Lease, which is a founder member of the UK-GBC and aims to offer sustainable property solutions.
Commenting on the news, he said that the most pressing concern for the construction and property sector is sustainability.
"I believe we can and must meet this challenge and do so in a way that leaves the industry a better, more prosperous one as a result," he said.
Paul King, chief executive of the UK-GBC, added that he is excited at the prospect of working with the new chairman in "what will be a really exciting period for the organisation".
The UK-GBC was established in 2007 and aims to improve the sustainability of the built environment.
