Plans announced for Burnley stadium upgrade February 8, 2010

Ambitious improvements to Burnley Football Club's Turf Moor stadium have been announced today (February 8th).

Improvements sounded out by the football club and the Burnley Borough Council include a StadiArena stand, which is a dual facility for housing concerts, exhibitions and conferences as well as spectator seating on matchdays.

Additionally, the plans could see a Football University being built nearby and the relocations of Burnley Cricket Club.

Commenting on the announcement, chief executive of the football club Paul Fletcher said: "If you dare to dream, dream big and this is not just about Burnley Football Club, this is about the whole town of Burnley and potentially leaving a massive legacy."

He added that the proposals would help to get people from around the world to the area.

Burnley Football Club began playing their home games at Turf Moor in 1883 and only Preston North End has been in continuous residence of their same ground longer.
