Work starts on Wheel of Liverpool February 8, 2010

A 60-metre high wheel attraction is being constructed in Liverpool ahead of its unveiling this weekend.

The Wheel of Liverpool is now taking shape next to the city's Echo Arena, which has been sounded out for the perfect place for the structure by Elliot Hall, co-chairman of Great City Attractions, operator of the structure.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "We picked this spot because from here you get a view of the city, rather than being right in the middle of it where the last wheel was, so you'll get a completely different experience."

Each capsule on the wheel will be available to hire by the public and will contain DVD players, leather seats and champagne, he added.

Great City Attractions was formed in January 2009 following the merging of the Great Wheel Corporation and World Tourist Attractions.

World Tourist Attractions was responsible for the big wheels in Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and Hyde Park, London.
