Wasps name side for Adams Park clash
London Wasps have today named a 26 man side to face Glasgow Warriors at Adams Park tomorrow, Saturday 28th August, KO 3pm. The game follows Wasps pre-season opener against Leinster, where the men in black and gold secured a 41-6 win over the Irish giants last Friday.
Naming his team today, Director of Rugby Tony Hanks rotates the squad that secured victory at Donnybrook with Mark Van Gisbergen, Riki Flutey, Joe Simpson, Tim Payne, Rob Webber and captain Tom Rees named in the starting XV and Jack Wallace, Dave Walder, Nic Berry, Zak Taluafo, Tom Lindsay and Serge Betsen named on the bench. Simon Shaw is also promoted to the starting line up in place of Marty Veale with Dan Ward-Smith named on the bench. The final change sees Joe Worsley in for Will Matthews who sustained an injury to his shoulder against Leinster.
Looking ahead to the game, which marks Wasps first run out at Adams Park, Hanks said, "The players are really looking forward to running out at Adams Park and getting back in front of the home crowd. We were pleased with the display against Leinster, there was plenty of endeavour in both halves and a full effort from the entire 27 men to ensure that second half surge. At this stage of the season it's all about the performance and the guys have come away with a good feeling about what we're trying to do, so we hope to see that come through in Saturday's game. In terms of the line up it is great to see Joe Worsley and Dan Ward-Smith involved and also to give the full squad a chance to pick up game time.
"On the back of their game against Sale, Glasgow will be equally geared up for this fixture. Having met them in a pre-season clash last year we know it will be highly competitive the fact that we will face each other again in this seasons Heineken Cup also adds another dimension."
