Updates from our suppliers

We know that product availability and the price of materials are more important than ever to you and your business, however, we are often advised by our suppliers of price increases on some items you may purchase.

Each year, manufacturers of building materials raise their prices due to the ever-increasing costs in raw materials, fuel, logistics and employment costs. We negotiate hard and always look for new ways to reduce our prices each year to keep our prices competitive.

We are also aware of the importance of getting you everything you need when you need it. However, sometimes our suppliers inform us of issues in the supply chain which means that some products may not be as readily available as we would hope.

Current issues affecting the materials supply chain:

  • Kitchen appliance availability has been hit by increased demand and a reduced production capacity. Especially hard-hit are products which include microchips, such as combi and microwave ovens, as there is a shortage in microchip supply across a wide range of industries from kitchen appliances to cars. Please expect longer lead times for these products and order ahead where you can.
  • Largely due to a reduction in the availability of raw materials used in the production of PIR insulation, mainly MDI, Recticel have introduced an allocation process on this product to ensure fair supply to their customers.
  • As a result of unprecedented increases in market demand for cement as well as reduced availability of haulage and packaging, Hanson have introduced an allocation process for cement to ensure fair supply in the market. You will notice that on our website we have limited certain products to five per order. For more information from Hanson, please click here
  • Increasing worldwide demand coupled with a sharp rise in shipments of timber to America has reduced the availability of imported carcassing in Europe
  • Due to continued UK market demand, which is above forecasted levels, British Gypsum have introduced an allocation process for Gyproc Plasterboard and Gypframe Metal. You can find more information from British Gypsum by clicking here.
